Pieces

Pieces is a poem about America and its many pieces as diverse and unique. And how although they are all different and widespread they all come together to form something bigger than themselves.

By Taylor Y. from Gerstell Academy in Maryland

Pieces

Pieces scatter across an open plain

Each shatter in a different way

Yet each forms a complete piece

Ragged edges

Sharp emotions

Lace the edges

Yet each holds a sense of beauty

Why some pieces collide

Some reconnect

Yet each forms a complete piece

Fractions of light

Each a different shade

each containing a different story

Yet each holds a sense of beauty

Each piece is different

Each piece is special

Yet each piece is essential to form the whole
